Charter Course to the Future

The Key are delighted to announce the news that we have signed the Power of Youth Charter, the culmination of the incredible #iwill campaign. Our mission is ‘to create a world where all young people are inspired to believe in themselves and achieve their full potential’ and the 5 pledges of the Charter are ones we are committed to following to help us achieve this. As an organisation we feel it is essential for us to support the Power of Youth - Huey Lewis said it best, ‘that's the power, makes the world go ‘round’.

Over the past five years, in partnership with DCMS, Pears Foundation, Virgin Money Foundation and The National Lottery Community Fund, The Key has supported young people to explore social action on their own terms using The Key Framework. By dreaming up and delivering their very own social action projects, young people have built their skills, realised their true potential and made a huge difference in their communities. Groups such as 3 Nuns on a Horse, Martin’s Minions and DIY Whiskers have created Little Bags of Happiness, an International Women’s Day Afternoon Tea and even a local Youth Parliament.

Even in a year as crazy as 2020, our amazing groups such as The Satiricals and Isolation Rescue have braved social distancing, PPE and virtual panels to run awesome projects supporting their local areas with a Community Catalogue and Isolation Packs to keep spirits up and show people in the community they had not been forgotten.

Even as the #iwill scheme comes to an end, by signing this charter, we really hope this shows our commitment to empowering young people to help create the world of tomorrow, today. We fully endorse the pledges to:

We really look forward to keeping you up to date with the exciting work of our amazing young people over the coming years as we fulfil these commitments and feel the power of youth.

If your organisation has yet to sign up, why not think about getting on board here.
