As we mark Volunteers’ Week, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the incredible individuals who dedicate their time, expertise, and passion to empower young people through The Key. Our volunteers play a pivotal role in guiding and supporting young people on their KEY+ journey being the all important panel member.
Meet Some of Our Volunteers
Volunteers like Siobhan bring a wealth of experience from the charity, business, and youth sectors. As a relatively new Volunteer Panel Member (VPM) for The Key, Siobhan finds joy in witnessing young people present their project ideas, noting the growth in their confidence and sense of achievement.
James, another dedicated VPM, has been instrumental in supporting young people for many years. His involvement with the North Benwell Youth Project and The Key has allowed him to contribute meaningfully, particularly enjoying hearing the dreams and aspirations of young people during panels.
Abbie, who started volunteering with The Key two years ago, highlights the privilege of aiding young people in developing essential life skills. She cherishes moments like attending events organised through the KEY+ Challenge and witnessing the positive impact on the young people and the community. Abbie believes in the transformative power of volunteering, noting how it helps young people build confidence, resilience and communication skills.
Student Volunteers Making a Difference
Dhruv, a student volunteer from Newcastle University, began his journey with The Key in 2022. Balancing his studies with volunteering, he found the experience enriching. Dhruv emphasises the value of contributing to young people’s live and encourages fellow students to embrace such opportunities for personal growth and community engagement.
